A Framework toward Optimal Operation of Service Overlay Networks Assuring Inter-domain QoS
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper develops a design framework toward the profitable operation of generic service overlay networks (SON) assuring inter-domain QoS. The building blocks of the framework, namely, the QoSbandwidth demand mapping and the topology optimization are elaborated in detail. Moreover, some preliminary results are presented to demonstrate the gains of using the developed framework.

A design framework towards the profitable operation of service overlay networks
We present in this paper a generic design framework towards the profitable operation of a service overlay network (SON) that aims to assure inter-domain quality of services (QoS). Revealing some involved NP-hard topological design tasks, we work out efficient heuristic methods for the practical implementation of the proposed framework. The efficiency of the developed heuristic methods is tested...
متن کاملOn the Service Overlay Network Concept for End-to-End QoS Assurances
This deliverable summarizes our recent research results on the topic of service overlay networks, an innovative concept for end-to-end QoS assurance. It reports the research contributions we have achieved during the last period, including i) a technical overview and evaluations of existing architectures for end-to-end QoS with special focus on the overlay network solution, ii) our scientific co...
متن کاملRouting on Overlay Networks: Developments and Challenges
Overlay networks are networks operating on the inter-domain level, where the edge hosts learn of each other and, based on knowledge of underlying network performance, they form loosely coupled neighboring relationships. These relationships can be used to induce a specific graph, where nodes are representing hosts and edges are representing neighboring relationships. Graph abstraction and the as...
متن کاملQuality-of-Service Signaling for Virtual Networks
Network virtualization is a promising abstraction technique, not only to optimize the utilization of network resources, but also to design and actually bring out completely novel network architectures and protocols [1]. Such a virtual network consists of virtual nodes that are interconnected by virtual links. Thus the virtual network builds its own logical overlay structure on top of the physic...
